What to do now - June
-
Plant our runner beans in your ready prepared trench. Put up supports (wigwams or parallel avenues of canes) before planting
-
Plant out tomatoes, courgettes and squash
-
By the end of the month the first of the early potatoes will be ready
-
Protect young brassicas against pigeons. Support netting on stakes, make sure that the birds cannot sit on it to peck through. Regularly check netting for holes that can trap a small bird
-
Stop cutting asparagus in late June to allow the crowns to build up strength for next year.
